Finally, I was able to reach the summit of Mt. Napulak in Igbaras, Iloilo ~ the most sought mountain for beginners in Panay. My hiking life was all started here as my first hike to any mountains last May 2016.
Mt. Napulak is the highest peak of the municipality of Igbaras, Iloilo.
It is called Napulak because of its iconic “nipple” rock in the local language that sits at its very summit. The metal cross was built on top of this rock to signify the faith of the people.
The place is the getaway to those who want to spend their weekend to see the 360 degrees view of the entire Panay region including the Negros Island.

Mt. Napulak Pre-Climb Preparation
Just like any other hike, mountaineers should consider some basic mountaineering preparations or things needed prior to the climb. Mt. Napulak has a variety of vegetation so proper hiking outfit must be practiced. Shoes and clothes must be comfortable and durable to any type of trails. Leggings, trekking pants, long socks, rashguard and gloves should be worn because there is an area where cogon grasses are as tall as 5 feet.
There is an open trail in the area where heat could be very intense so a wide cap or hat and sunscreen must be worn. In case of rain, you could bring a poncho or raincover for you hiking bag.
This is considered as a minor climb but still you should practice necessary precautions during the course of your hike.
I guess you are also excited and almost ready to climb the summit of Mt. Napulak.
